After spending Thanksgiving in Los Angeles we departed Annapolis MD on November 30. The first night out the temperature dropped into the 20's and our heating system failed. Heading south as fast as we could we made a stop at Jarrett Bay Boat Yard in North Carolina for a planned haul and touchup of the bottom paint around the waterline. The guys who worked on the botom paint also decided to "polish" the propeller and in the process ground off the anti-sing bevel edge of the trailing edge. The sing was difficult to miss at cruising speed. We continued on to Charleston SC where we planned to leave Congrio for a week to travel back to Los Angeles for Christmas.
Congrio remained at the shipyard dock while the yard completed its after launch work and Patty and I installed all of the interior trim and mouldings. We also built the helm seats and I installed a temporary Furuno depth sounder I bought on eBay, and converted my laptop into a GPS chart plotter. Outside contractors completed seat cushions, fiberglass shower stalls, and we bought temporary curtains.
